[0:26] you
[0:27] [Music]
[0:37] you
[0:57] good morning yes Anya today is Sunday
[1:02] October the second in the year 2011 on
[1:07] our fifth day of the retreat with the
[1:10] team cultivating the minor plow and we
[1:14] had Magnolia Grove meditation practice
[1:17] center this is the last day of our
[1:20] retreat and also the day of mindfulness
[1:24] for those of us who did not have do not
[1:28] have a cell to attend the whole retreat
[1:33] in a Buddhist tradition we speak of a
[1:37] kind of mind it's called a beginner's
[1:42] mind the beginner's mind is a very
[1:47] beautiful man
[1:48] a source of energy the willingness to
[1:55] practice to get freedom release
[2:04] enlightened and to serve others that is
[2:10] a tremendous source of energy at makers
[2:13] very life very dynamic and with that
[2:17] source of energy called the beginner's
[2:20] mind we are not afraid of obstacles we
[2:26] can be ready to zoom out to overcome all
[2:32] kind of obstacles in order to realize
[2:35] how big our intention our aspiration
[2:38] that is the willingness to get
[2:42] enlightened to get free in order to
[2:45] serve other living beings and siddhartha
[2:50] gautama when he left home at the age of
[2:55] 29 he had a very strong aspiration to
[2:59] practice and on the age of 35 we got
[3:03] unlucky and it was able to within
[3:09] serving humanity and other living beings
[3:17] and we were friends of the Buddha who
[3:22] are his disciple we want to have that
[3:25] kind of experience aspiration - we want
[3:30] to have that kind of weakness - we want
[3:35] to have that kind of energy - so that we
[3:37] are strong enough in order to continue
[3:39] with our practice to free ourselves and
[3:42] to serve other people and that is why
[3:46] our retreat has been named as the title
[3:50] conjugating the mind blow
[3:52] the mind of love is the beginner's mind
[3:55] very beautiful very strong and as a
[3:58] professional you have to to nourish that
[4:02] mind so that you know last for a long
[4:04] time was when you can keep it mine life
[4:08] will be you know we are always full of
[4:12] energy in order to - with the practice
[4:18] no matter how difficult the situation is
[4:27] so during this period many of us have
[4:31] allowed the mind of love the minor
[4:37] enlightened
[4:40] to rise in a heart and if we know how to
[4:50] fit how to maintain that that mindful of
[4:57] the mind of enlightenment bodhichitta a
[5:01] life and then we all have enough energy
[5:04] to continue without of this to serve
[5:08] other people we know that there's a lot
[5:14] a lot of suffering in the world and
[5:18] sometimes we feel helpless but with
[5:20] bodhichitta in the mind of love in mind
[5:24] of enlightenment
[5:25] we are not discouraged we'll be able to
[5:29] continue so that we can relieve the
[5:33] salinas and help relieve suffering in
[5:36] society and in the world today's
[5:42] tomahawk will be a little bit difficult
[5:47] for those who come for the first time
[5:51] but if you have attended the first day
[5:54] the second third for the retreat it it
[5:58] will be an easy the matter
[6:04] it's Emily a continuation of the
[6:06] articles and maybe if you if we have the
[6:15] city of the other tops they go help us
[6:18] to understand deeply the top today which
[6:23] is very much experience and the teaching
[6:25] of the Buddha made into a short
[6:31] presentation in Buddhism we speak of two
[6:38] kinds of proof the conventional truth
[6:41] and the ultimate truth both kind of
[6:45] proof useful and in science and so
[6:52] there's two kind of truth there is a
[6:58] classic classical science represented by
[7:00] Newton it's equivalent to the convention
[7:05] of truth in Buddhism and there is the
[7:09] modern physics with quantum physics
[7:12] quantum mechanics it has a very
[7:16] different way of looking at reality
[7:18] understanding gravity and it also helped
[7:26] us to understand the true nature of
[7:29] reality and in order to go to the second
[7:36] truth you have to be able to release
[7:40] what you have learned from the
[7:43] conventional to what you have learned
[7:47] from Newton you have to release in order
[7:52] to truly understand quantum mechanics
[7:57] and so on this is the same that the
[8:02] Buddhist diction there is the
[8:04] conventional truth where I respect of
[8:07] birth and death Buddha
[8:12] living beings enlightenment and the
[8:17] illusion the suffering and happiness but
[8:25] we when we come to the outward truth
[8:30] these ideas about birth and death
[8:34] beginning and ending inside outside
[8:39] suffering and happiness we have to
[8:42] overcome in order to leave it behind
[8:45] before we can understand the absolute
[8:48] ultimate truth and that kind of insight
[8:53] is the highest when you are able to
[9:01] touch the ultimate reality you may call
[9:04] it God but in Buddhism you do not use
[9:08] the word God we live through it suchness
[9:11] the ultimate reality when we touch the
[9:16] ultimate reality we are free from all
[9:18] notions including the notion of being
[9:20] and non-being inside outside subject and
[9:29] object
[9:33] in neuroscience in modern science people
[9:39] still struggle a little bit about
[9:43] consciousness and the world of reality
[9:51] consciousness is something subjective in
[9:55] here and reality outside the reality is
[10:03] something outside so how can
[10:11] consciousness inside reach out in order
[10:18] to understand the reality outside and
[10:24] science has begun to discover the truth
[10:27] that you cannot be an observer standing
[10:31] outside of the object we observed in
[10:35] order to understand youth should stop
[10:38] being an observer from the outside you
[10:41] should try to become a participant
[10:44] participant and Sundays have began
[10:47] already to speak about it so in order
[10:52] for to understand them to be possible
[10:55] you had to remove the frontier between
[11:02] participant between observer and object
[11:08] being observed whether that is an
[11:12] electron ion or anything but if you
[11:17] think that you are an observer
[11:18] completely outside of the object to
[11:21] observe please know hope that you can
[11:24] truly understand the object of your
[11:27] observation you should try to be a
[11:30] participant and not merely
[11:33] from outside and modern science have has
[11:37] begin to see that the inside-outside
[11:41] absence of object and subject the
[11:46] insight that the buddha got at the foot
[11:50] of the body tree is the kind of insight
[11:53] that helped him to liberate to be
[11:56] liberated from all fear and despair and
[12:01] that insight you have to be at it
[12:03] directly and not true
[12:06] explanation because when you explain you
[12:10] you offer notions and concepts but
[12:15] notions and concepts can never be the
[12:18] reality suppose there is someone who has
[12:22] not never eaten a fruit called kiwi and
[12:29] you try to kill him how is the paste of
[12:33] the kiwi fruit no matter how many
[12:37] notions and concept you have is
[12:41] impossible for him to get the toothpaste
[12:44] of kiwi so two insight is like that
[12:51] Ratna inside lifetime you can speak
[12:56] about inside but we are using notions
[13:00] and concepts we can make good use of
[13:04] notions and concepts in order to
[13:06] practice deep looking the protein is
[13:09] meditation and we can get the insight by
[13:13] ourselves inside cannot begin cannot be
[13:16] given us by another person if you don't
[13:21] hit the TV yeah as you cannot understand
[13:26] you cannot experience the toothpaste
[13:29] keeping you only have a notion
[13:36] that kind of insight from time to time
[13:39] is called a right view in Buddhism and
[13:43] right we'll make up one of the eight
[13:46] elements of the noble path presented by
[13:50] the Buddha plays a path lived into
[13:54] liberation and true happiness is called
[13:58] Noble a full path journey we have
[14:04] learned about right mindfulness which is
[14:08] one element right concentration which is
[14:11] another element of good path and when we
[14:15] speak of right view that is another
[14:18] element of the path and after that we
[14:23] have great thinking right speech right
[14:26] action right decisions we have learned
[14:30] and right livelihood and the five
[14:37] mindfulness trainings that many of us
[14:39] received today this morning is a very
[14:42] concrete expression of that path the
[14:46] path of right view right thinking right
[14:49] speech right action Right Livelihood
[14:53] right decisions right mindfulness and
[14:59] concentration
[15:06] and one day there is a man whose name is
[15:10] Katia Jana Takayama
[15:16] he came in last Buddha get it you have
[15:19] spoken many times of right view what is
[15:23] what does it mean exactly right here
[15:26] trying to get a notion in the Zen
[15:35] tradition every time a student come and
[15:38] ask a question having to do with notion
[15:42] but it sure used to to respond like have
[15:49] you eaten your breakfast yes teacher I
[15:55] have had my professor then go and wash
[15:57] your bowl that is the Zen language
[16:05] inside cannot transmitted to you two
[16:08] concepts you have to do it and if you
[16:11] know how to wash your bowl mindfully you
[16:13] might get inside so that day the Buddha
[16:19] said dear one right right field is the
[16:29] kind of view that transcend the notion
[16:31] of both of being and non-being people in
[16:37] the world are caught either either by
[16:40] the notion of being the notion of
[16:44] non-being that is why they cannot touch
[16:47] reality
[16:53] so if we qualify the cloud in the sky
[16:56] as a beam we are wrong and if we say
[17:00] that the cloud is not there the cloud
[17:05] belong to the realm of non-being
[17:07] we are also wrong the cloud cannot be
[17:12] described in terms of being and
[17:14] non-being let us meditate a little bit
[17:22] on that we see the cloud floating in the
[17:27] sky we are sure that the cloud is but
[17:34] yesterday we did not see the cloud and
[17:39] we may think that the cloud has come
[17:41] from the realm of non-being into the
[17:45] realm of being from nothing you suddenly
[17:49] become something before our birth we
[17:55] think that it did not exist before our
[17:58] birth we begin to exist only from the
[18:02] day we are born it means that we also
[18:07] has come from the realm of non-being to
[18:11] the rainbow B and later on maybe 100
[18:14] years from now if you touch a point
[18:19] where it was stopped being and we pass
[18:24] into the realm of non-being from someone
[18:29] you suddenly become no.1 that is the way
[18:37] we think to be means from the realm of
[18:45] non-being to pass into the realm of B
[18:51] and to die means from the realm of being
[18:56] you pass into the realm of non-being
[19:02] and that kind of thinking the Buddha
[19:03] said is not writing because you are
[19:07] caught in the ground in an ocean of
[19:09] being and non-being and let us continue
[19:13] with the meditation on the cloud looking
[19:18] deeply into the cloud you can see that
[19:22] the cloud has not come from the realm of
[19:25] non-being you can see that before it it
[19:29] thick it took the form of a cloud it was
[19:33] already low the water in the ocean and
[19:36] the heat generated by the Sun many
[19:38] things like that so it has not come from
[19:42] the realm of non-being so the notion of
[19:47] birth cannot be applied to reality the
[19:55] cloud has not been born the cloud is the
[19:59] continuation of something and if you
[20:04] look deeply with meditation you see we
[20:07] can identify that something that was a
[20:11] former life of the cloud the water in
[20:16] the ocean the heat and so what a vapor
[20:24] so the nature the true nature of the
[20:28] cloud is nature of no birth because in
[20:36] our mind according to our wrong thinking
[20:39] to be born means from nothing to become
[20:43] something from no one you suddenly
[20:46] become someone and that is not true when
[20:52] applied to a cloud and to anything
[20:55] nothing has come from
[20:57] not be in Toby
[21:05] the moment recall the moment of birth is
[21:08] only a moment of continuation the cloud
[21:16] has now the form of a cloud but before
[21:19] getting the form of a cloud she had
[21:22] other form and later on the cloud might
[21:27] take another form like green eyes or
[21:31] snow so this is a new manifestation this
[21:37] is a form of continuation not a birth so
[21:42] next time when in Sicilia to celebrate
[21:44] your birthday instead of singing happy
[21:49] birthday to you we can sing happy
[21:51] continuation day together because that
[22:03] is only a continuation and if you know
[22:08] we know that it is impossible for a
[22:11] cloud to die it is impossible for
[22:15] something to pass from the realm of
[22:17] being into the realm of non-being a
[22:21] cloud can become snow eyes rain tea but
[22:30] never nothing and that is why it can
[22:36] confirm that the nature the true nature
[22:41] of the cloud is the nature of no no die
[22:45] no death no birth no death not only a
[22:51] cloud like that is like that but all of
[22:54] us are like that each of us has the
[22:58] nature of no birth and no death and the
[23:01] notion of birth and death created a lot
[23:04] of fear despair and sir
[23:09] so in the realm of conventional truth in
[23:13] my confirm the existence of birth and
[23:17] death where we are born we have a
[23:23] certificate birth certificate and when
[23:28] we die we have a death certificate but
[23:33] that's not true because our true nature
[23:35] is no birth and no death
[23:37] this subtly do not have real values
[23:41] suppose you give to the to your cloud
[23:45] and birth certificate I suppose you give
[23:51] her death certificate it's funny
[23:55] when your cloud is still there in her
[23:58] form and when you drink your tea you can
[24:02] smile your cloud in her new form
[24:05] hello there my beloved cloud I'm glad
[24:10] you are there for me so if you have lost
[24:14] someone dear to you
[24:17] don't think that she has disappeared she
[24:21] has passed from the realm of being into
[24:23] non-being she continues always and with
[24:27] the practice of meditation you can still
[24:31] recognize her in her new form the rain
[24:35] is falling happening down there and you
[24:38] are crying because you don't see your
[24:40] cloud you think that your cloud is dead
[24:44] the rain is calling you and saying
[24:47] darling darling I'm here don't you see
[24:50] be and if you can see your beloved cloud
[24:57] in her new form you stop crying there's
[25:00] no longer any grief and your own true
[25:05] nature is also the nature of Noble
[25:10] so the notion of birth and death are
[25:13] linked with the notion of being and
[25:15] non-being and all four notions
[25:22] constitute our wrong view round clicking
[25:29] suppose I draw this line represent
[25:32] representing time and we take B as the
[25:41] moment of our birth and we describe for
[25:44] the segment before being as non B and we
[25:54] take the segment B D D D means death as
[26:01] representing being and when it come to
[26:07] point D we pass from the Ramban into
[26:12] non-being again so to be born this is
[26:25] our way of thinking is to pass from the
[26:29] realm of non-being to the rain would be
[26:31] and to die means to pass from the realm
[26:35] of being into the realm of non-being
[26:37] again so the notion of birth and death
[26:43] had to do with the notion of being and
[26:46] non-being
[26:53] when we ask the question whether God
[26:56] exists or not we are caught because we
[27:09] still think of God in terms of being and
[27:11] non-being regarding is not ultimate the
[27:22] ultimat is free from the notion of being
[27:24] and non-being
[27:25] you cannot discard in terms of being on
[27:28] and normal in fact you cannot describe
[27:31] your cloud in terms of being a number
[27:33] but under how can you describe God in
[27:38] terms of being an ugly there is a fusion
[27:42] who say that God is the ground of being
[27:49] according to this teaching that is not
[27:52] right because if God is the ground of
[27:56] being who will be the ground of not
[27:59] being so loud ultimate should transcend
[28:06] both concepts of being and non-being to
[28:09] say that God does not exist
[28:12] that is wrong but to say that God exists
[28:15] is equally from because God the ultimate
[28:18] trends and both notion being and
[28:21] non-being and right view is first of all
[28:27] the kind of insight it is free from the
[28:31] notion of being and non-being birth and
[28:36] death and when we get rid of these four
[28:39] notions we are
[28:50] right view is a kind of view deterrence
[28:53] and all pairs of opposite not only being
[28:57] a number birth and death but left and
[29:01] right above and below inside and outside
[29:04] subject and object
[29:22] when Godse said let the light be the
[29:28] light to say I had to wait I got asked
[29:37] why did you wait
[29:38] you'd have to wait I I wait for darkness
[29:41] and we will manifest together the same
[29:44] time because light and darkness they are
[29:50] a pair of opposite one cannot be without
[29:54] the other
[29:55] it's the left and right but he God said
[29:59] well that mess is already there and I
[30:02] said in that case I am already there you
[30:11] cannot expect to have the left without
[30:13] right you can hope to element right and
[30:18] keep only the left it's very nice if
[30:24] politically you are on the left
[30:28] don't try to remove the right every day
[30:36] it the right disappear you disappear
[30:44] suppose you tried with a knife to cut
[30:47] off the right and no matter how how much
[30:54] you want to cut off this place where you
[30:57] cut off become the right
[31:01] so laughs and right is a pair of
[31:04] opposite birth and death is another pair
[31:08] and being and non-being is another pair
[31:12] and then now we speak of subject of
[31:20] cognition and object of cognition of
[31:27] perception many scientists are still
[31:31] caught in the in the idea that
[31:35] consciousness the subject of cognition
[31:38] is something of subjective trying to
[31:48] reach out the objective world so there
[31:55] is a division between subject and object
[31:59] but many scientists have began to
[32:02] realize that you cannot be an outside
[32:05] observer you are the thing that you are
[32:11] observed you have to learn to be a
[32:14] participant in order to truly understand
[32:18] what you want to understand there's a
[32:23] beautiful example in the Buddhist
[32:27] literature as a grain of salt who wants
[32:33] to know how certain is the seawater and
[32:40] the gain of thought is not in water and
[32:47] the ocean said cow if you want to
[32:49] understand jump into the ocean and
[32:52] become one with us and that's right if
[32:56] you stay outside as a separating you
[33:01] cannot hope to understand if you become
[33:05] one
[33:09] with the object that you understand you
[33:12] have a deep and complete understanding
[33:16] you know how salty it is the water in
[33:22] the ocean in the French language there
[33:29] is a verb compound means to understand
[33:32] compound it there is this prefix comp
[33:44] and brown don't mean to take to pick up
[33:53] to take to text something and to become
[33:56] one with it if you want to understand
[34:02] her you should meet her well if you want
[34:06] to understand him you should be in his
[34:09] skin
[34:10] you should be him if you if you stay
[34:16] outside and look at the other option
[34:20] like something existing outside of you
[34:23] there will be no hope that you will
[34:25] understand so to understand is to be one
[34:30] with it
[34:39] it's like when you eat the Kiwi you are
[34:42] one with the Kiwi
[34:52] [Music]
[34:57] [Laughter]
[35:07] [Music]
[35:29] this is a box of a match much as I
[35:33] brought all the way from France and let
[35:42] us try to talk to to the flame the flame
[35:55] is somewhere there and we cannot say
[36:00] that she belong now to the gram of
[36:03] non-being yes she is somewhere there I
[36:07] be hidden in the box and outside of the
[36:11] boss
[36:18] there is oxygen outside the box
[36:22] an oxygen is an essential element for
[36:28] the manifestation of the flame so we can
[36:37] talk to the flame like this my dad at
[36:40] the plane I know you are there somehow
[36:45] we don't believe that you belong to the
[36:48] realm of non-being
[36:51] why don't you manifest yourself for us
[37:01] and this is a meditation and if you have
[37:06] we have enough mindfulness and
[37:09] concentration we can hear the answer the
[37:11] flame deity dear Sangha I am ready to
[37:15] manifest all conditions are sufficient
[37:18] except one a movement of your fingers
[37:27] it's true that the flame is already in
[37:33] there the conditions for the flame to
[37:36] manifest sufficient except one so we
[37:40] will provide her with the last collision
[37:43] so that she can manifest for all of us
[37:52] thank you my dear little flame for
[37:56] having manifested for us you are
[38:02] beautiful
[38:05] they stay a little bit longer now we
[38:21] should ask the flame My dear little
[38:27] flame where have you come from
[38:37] when you when we fall in love with
[38:40] someone we might like to ask him or her
[38:46] that question you are so wonderful so
[38:54] beautiful the flame to say yet Hades
[39:03] Sangha I have come from nowhere I have
[39:10] not come from the north I have not come
[39:15] from the south
[39:16] I have not come from the west from the
[39:19] east when conditions are sufficient I
[39:24] manifest my nature is that of no coming
[39:31] my nature is non-local
[39:42] and we know that the flame is telling
[39:46] the truth she has not come from the
[39:51] north she has not come from the West
[39:58] either her nature is non-local when
[40:04] conditions are sufficient
[40:06] she just manifest so your beloved one
[40:12] may say the same the one I have come
[40:18] from nowhere when conditions are
[40:21] sufficient I manifest be careful if you
[40:26] are not careful I will disappear someday
[40:30] the conditions are not yellow I would
[40:37] disappear something be aware that's true
[40:42] so if you are not attentive if you are
[40:49] not mindful if you do not know how to
[40:53] cherish his her presence she will end
[40:57] her manifestation and manifest otherwise
[41:07] and now we ask the second question my
[41:11] dear little flame I know that you have
[41:16] not passed from the realm of being and
[41:19] to not be tell us please where have you
[41:25] gone
[41:25] we miss you and if you listen you can
[41:31] hear dear thay dear Sangha I have not
[41:34] gone anywhere when conditions are no
[41:39] longer sufficient I just pop manifest my
[41:42] manifestation my nature is non-local I
[41:46] have not gone anywhere and we know that
[41:51] this is the truth the nature of the
[41:54] flame is no birth no death no being no
[41:58] not being no coming no going coming and
[42:05] going also a pair of opposite that we
[42:09] have to to remove inside outside is a
[42:18] pair opposite subject of cognition and
[42:21] object collisions and so if they are
[42:24] opposite if scientists continue to
[42:29] believe that consciousness is something
[42:34] outside of the reality observe the still
[42:39] cut in a pair of opposites
[42:51] that has invited a flame to manifest
[42:54] again
[43:05] and let us produce and unafraid now it
[43:13] looks like we have two flames two
[43:16] different flames
[43:24] now we can ask my dear flame are you the
[43:30] same flame with the flame I saw before
[43:32] or are you a totally different one
[43:35] [Music]
[43:39] and this is the meditation you asked the
[43:44] right question and you use concentration
[43:48] in order to focus on it and make a
[43:54] breakthrough the flame will say dear
[44:06] thay dear Sangha I'm not exactly the
[44:09] same frame with the other flame but I am
[44:13] NOT a totally different flavor either my
[44:22] nature is no simulus no other Ness
[44:27] semanas and hardness also a couple a
[44:32] pair of opposites and reality transcend
[44:43] the notion of sameness and Adonis
[44:52] suppose you look at your family album
[44:56] and you see yourself as a baby you have
[45:03] your mother took your picture when you
[45:06] will find a man's role and you asked
[45:13] question am I the same person with that
[45:16] baby am i different person you are so
[45:22] you look so different form feelings
[45:29] perceptions mental formations
[45:31] consciousness you have very different
[45:33] from the five elements of the baby so
[45:41] the question is whether you are the same
[45:43] with the baby are you are a different
[45:45] person
[45:48] please remember the other day we we
[45:54] talked on the children about the grain
[45:56] of corn and a planted corn and the
[46:01] shootin learned that the planted corn is
[46:03] a continuation of the grain of corn the
[46:07] grain of corn has not died she continues
[46:12] in her new form the planted corn
[46:19] and even if you no longer see the grain
[46:23] of corn the grain of corn is still there
[46:26] in a new form of planted corn so compute
[46:33] and a baby in a picture you are not the
[46:36] same
[46:37] how can you be the same big difference
[46:43] but you are not a totally different
[46:46] person either
[46:47] you are the continuation of the optimum
[46:53] so semanas and earnest is another of
[46:57] opposite that should we can send it we
[47:02] have births and death we have being and
[47:18] non-being
[47:24] we have coming and going
[47:33] we have sameness and Adonis and all
[47:48] these pairs of opposite should we can
[47:50] send it in order for us to see the true
[47:54] face of reality I hope that this
[48:00] teaching Buddha can inspire scientists
[48:05] about her in a way to inquire about
[48:09] reality when we look into the son or
[48:18] daughter
[48:21] we can see the father in him and we can
[48:28] see the mother in him knowing her
[48:35] and if we try to remove the element
[48:39] father from him he can no longer be
[48:42] there we will try to remove the element
[48:46] mother from her the daughter cannot
[48:50] continue to be there so the daughter is
[48:54] a continuation of the mother of the
[48:59] father the son also the truth is that
[49:04] the son is a continuation of the father
[49:09] and is a father the truth is that the
[49:17] son is not exactly the same with the
[49:22] father but he is not a totally different
[49:26] person from the father either it's like
[49:33] the grain of corn and a planted corn the
[49:38] planned corn is not the grain of corn
[49:41] but is not a different thing from the
[49:45] green corn so that is reality
[49:50] free from notions concepts
[50:01] let us look at something like a flower
[50:09] these flowers grow by themselves from in
[50:13] this practice and the sisters have not
[50:18] blended the militias manifest like that
[50:24] looking deeply into this flower we see
[50:28] non-flower elements like the sunshine
[50:31] the cloud the earth and so on
[50:40] and we call all these elements
[50:46] non-flower elements and a flower is made
[50:53] only of non-flower elements the Sun is
[51:00] made of non Sun element including the
[51:05] element father mother grandfather
[51:09] grandmother and sir
[51:16] a flower cannot be by herself
[51:20] no her manifestation is based under
[51:27] coming together of many non-flower
[51:30] elements
[51:41] and that is why in the teaching of the
[51:47] Buddha we have the expression in to be
[51:53] intervene
[52:20] there's
[52:26] sahaba the sense that were sahaba means
[52:35] go being you you cannot be by yourself
[52:40] you have to intervene with everything
[52:45] else in the cosmos
[52:47] if I removed sunshine from me a collapse
[52:51] a very my removed cloud from me I
[52:54] collapse if I remove my father family I
[52:57] collapse I made only of non me elements
[53:04] nothing can be bicep alone everything
[53:08] has to intervene with everything else
[53:10] that's right view and that is why the
[53:15] notion of self should be removed
[53:35] no self doesn't mean that you are not
[53:38] there no surf means you are made only of
[53:42] non-jew elements there is a very
[53:51] well-known Sutra Holy Scripture that sir
[53:58] that he studied in Zen monasteries it's
[54:04] called an Diamond Sutra in the Diamond
[54:08] Sutra
[54:09] we are urged to remove four notions in
[54:13] fact there are many notion to be removed
[54:15] that but the Diamond Sutra only focus on
[54:20] four notions the first notion is notion
[54:24] of self we believe that we can be by
[54:30] ourselves alone the flower can be by
[54:33] yourself alone but that is not true
[54:35] looking deeply we see that the flower is
[54:37] made only of non-flower elements that is
[54:42] why the flower should remove the notion
[54:46] that she can exist all by herself into
[54:54] ease with the cosmos I inter M that all
[54:59] of you are into M with the whole cosmos
[55:01] I think intervene is a very important
[55:06] word and that should be put into the
[55:11] dictionary very soon
[55:14] it's closer to the truth than work to me
[55:32] so if we can remove the notion of self
[55:34] as a independent entity we are free from
[55:41] many many afflictions if I believe there
[55:49] is a separate self we have the tendency
[55:52] to compare itself with other cells and
[55:54] from there is born the complex of
[55:57] superiority that make you suffer from
[56:01] there is born the complex of inferiority
[56:04] that paquius suffer and even the complex
[56:09] of equality make you suffer because that
[56:13] is the outcome of comparison if you
[56:17] don't see a separate self there is no
[56:20] comparison anymore and you are free not
[56:25] only from the inferiority complex the
[56:30] superiority complex but the Equality
[56:33] complex because many was tried to be
[56:35] equal but you you are in him and he is
[56:42] in you the second notion is as a notion
[56:49] of man Purusha human beings
[56:58] according to the Tipton man is made only
[57:02] of non-man elements namely mineral
[57:05] vegetal and animals man is a very young
[57:10] species on earth and yet we think that
[57:17] we are the boss we have done a lot of
[57:21] damage to the kingdom of God because we
[57:29] do not know who we are we have human
[57:33] ancestors but we have also animal
[57:36] ancestors
[57:37] we have also vegetal ancestors and we
[57:44] have also mineral ancestors they are
[57:48] still in us and with every step we'll
[57:52] carry within us all our ancestors
[57:56] mineral vegetable animal and human
[58:00] ancestors no matter where we go we bring
[58:04] our understands allow and we are happy
[58:07] our ancestors in as I happy we suffer
[58:11] our ancestors immerse to suffer
[58:21] so the Diamond Sutra teaches that man is
[58:27] only made of non man element in order to
[58:33] protect men you have to protect the
[58:35] environment you had to protect the
[58:39] mineral the animal and a vegetal and
[58:44] that is why the Diamond Sutra seems to
[58:47] be the oldest text detection of Deep
[58:51] Ecology and the third notion to be
[58:59] removed is living beings and this word
[59:10] living beings here mean it means a non
[59:14] Buddha being a Buddha is enlightened
[59:22] person I call Bodhi Bodhi means
[59:32] enlightenment
[59:33] sattva such a means a being a Buddha is
[59:42] enlightened being able to survive
[59:51] the Buddha is a great bin Maha Sabha
[1:00:01] water
[1:00:04] yeah Chilton muhabba die die Hilton
[1:00:16] and as a human we may have some complex
[1:00:25] that we are not a Buddha we are not a
[1:00:28] great being and so the notion of living
[1:00:36] being as different from enlightened
[1:00:42] being a gripping that that notion that
[1:00:47] feeling of inferiority should be removed
[1:00:54] in fact if you want to find a
[1:00:57] bodhisattva if you want to see mahasabha
[1:01:02] you have to look into yourself that is
[1:01:06] the safest to find a Buddha not in the
[1:01:10] sky not in direction of the West not in
[1:01:14] the Buddha hole the Buddha is in your
[1:01:19] heart because you have the seat of
[1:01:23] enlightenment in you you have the seat
[1:01:26] of understanding and compassion in you
[1:01:29] and that is Buddhahood Buddha nature so
[1:01:33] the safest place the surest place to
[1:01:36] find Buddha is in the human being and
[1:01:40] not in a God outside above so there is a
[1:01:48] teaching in the Rings I school am Desco
[1:01:56] chinfa botany
[1:02:04] it means human beings and Buddha's they
[1:02:13] are not two different things when you
[1:02:17] look into the Buddha you see a human
[1:02:19] being and if you have not seen the
[1:02:23] Buddha the living being in the Buddha
[1:02:25] you have not seen the Buddha a living
[1:02:30] being
[1:02:30] is someone who has suffered we had live
[1:02:35] in delusion and the Buddha is someone
[1:02:40] that has suffered that has had
[1:02:44] afflictions that has from practice to
[1:02:48] transform so when you look at the Buddha
[1:02:52] you have to see non-buddhist elements
[1:02:55] like a suffering the practice answer and
[1:03:01] if you do not see the suffering in the
[1:03:05] Buddha that has been transformed you
[1:03:07] have not seen the Buddha you think that
[1:03:09] Buddha is made of only non suffering
[1:03:16] elements when you look into the flower
[1:03:20] of Lotus you have to see the mud in it
[1:03:25] because you need much in order to make
[1:03:28] lotus flower
[1:03:31] you cannot plant a lotus or marble
[1:03:36] so if you when you look at the lotus
[1:03:38] flower and you if you don't see the mud
[1:03:41] in it you have not seen the Lotus when
[1:03:44] you look at the Buddha if you don't see
[1:03:47] the suffering as one element that have
[1:03:49] made a Buddha you have not seen the
[1:03:52] Buddha
[1:03:54] so don't discriminate against with the
[1:03:57] between Buddha and non-buddhists and
[1:04:01] when you look at the human being who
[1:04:03] suffer you have to see the Buddhahood in
[1:04:06] Hema you should see the capacity to
[1:04:11] become awake to become enlightened to
[1:04:16] become compassionate and understanding
[1:04:17] in Hema that is called Buddha nature in
[1:04:21] every of us and if you look into a human
[1:04:26] being
[1:04:26] no no matter how much his or she suffer
[1:04:32] you have to see the Buddha in him
[1:04:34] otherwise you have not seen him or her
[1:04:39] when I was ordained as a novice monk at
[1:04:43] the age of sixteen my teacher gave me a
[1:04:49] verse to memorize before I am bound to
[1:04:54] the Buddha before bowing to the Buddha
[1:05:01] you have to prepare yourself otherwise
[1:05:07] by the door I will have no effect and
[1:05:11] that is a kind of meditation it begins
[1:05:14] like this the one who boughs and one who
[1:05:18] is bow to the nature of both is equally
[1:05:24] empty Buddha is made only of
[1:05:30] non-buddhist
[1:05:33] and I am made ugly of norm me elements
[1:05:41] so it is equal to say gay Buddha I am
[1:05:47] going to bother you but I know that you
[1:05:49] are empty of a self you are made of of
[1:05:54] only non Buddha elements and I can see
[1:05:57] me in you by the time you have already
[1:06:03] seen the Buddha and I who is bind to you
[1:06:07] I know that I am made of normally
[1:06:09] element and the element of enlightenment
[1:06:12] is in me - you are in me so you get the
[1:06:17] inside that you are in Buddha and the
[1:06:20] Buddha is in you and that's when you can
[1:06:24] bow and bow like that connect the two
[1:06:28] and create to communion otherwise if you
[1:06:33] think of Buddha is a separate entity
[1:06:37] there's no connection possible
[1:06:40] communication is possible communion is
[1:06:44] impossible I think the same thing must
[1:06:47] rule must be true
[1:06:49] when you bow to Jesus back to that you
[1:06:53] had to see you in God and God in you
[1:06:58] in order for - communion to be possible
[1:07:05] we learned that Jesus is the Son of God
[1:07:10] but we also learned that he is the son
[1:07:13] of man it's very significant he's both
[1:07:18] the Son of God in the Son of Man it
[1:07:22] means to not Asian man and man is in God
[1:07:26] and that is why connection is possible
[1:07:31] communion is possible and to me Jesus is
[1:07:36] made of non racist elements also suppose
[1:07:42] you remove God the Father from him he
[1:07:44] can no longer be
[1:07:45] Jesus suppose you remove the Holy Spirit
[1:07:49] from him he's no longer Jesus so the
[1:07:55] teaching of the Trinity applies into
[1:07:58] this there is the same wisdom the same
[1:08:03] insight in both traditions
[1:08:11] and if you imagine that God and Jesus
[1:08:13] are an entity that wholly outside there
[1:08:20] will be no real communication no real
[1:08:25] connection no real communion that is why
[1:08:28] the insight of interbeing is very
[1:08:31] different the inside of no self is very
[1:08:34] crucial inside of Buddha and living
[1:08:39] beings are not two separate entities is
[1:08:42] very important I think many Christians
[1:08:48] mystics have realized this
[1:08:58] [Music]
[1:09:22] and that is why that Buddha is not
[1:09:26] Britain worshipping it's a meditation
[1:09:33] before before before because before you
[1:09:37] bow you have to visualize you had to get
[1:09:40] inside that the Buddha is empty you are
[1:09:44] empty you are in the Buddha and the
[1:09:46] Buddha is in you before you bow and your
[1:09:50] bow to have an effect of transformation
[1:09:52] and healing we have among us in monk an
[1:10:03] African monk who had been a Catholic
[1:10:07] priests before he became a Buddhist monk
[1:10:11] it was a theologian he still loved Jesus
[1:10:20] and Christianity but he find that in
[1:10:23] Buddhism he has the tools the Testaments
[1:10:27] in order to practice the teaching of
[1:10:31] Christianity
[1:10:34] so learning about Buddhism can help you
[1:10:37] to be a better kitchen and vice versa so
[1:10:45] the notion of a living being has
[1:10:47] completely separated from Buddha from
[1:10:51] Bodhisattva from Jesus from God that
[1:10:55] notion should be removed because it can
[1:10:59] create division discrimination and
[1:11:02] suffering and the fourth notion that the
[1:11:06] Diamond Sutra advised us to remove is
[1:11:08] the notion of lifespan
[1:11:15] remember the line representing time we
[1:11:21] believe that they begin with point B and
[1:11:26] will end at Wendy and B they represent
[1:11:35] the realm of Bill and they represent the
[1:11:39] realm of non-being so the notion that we
[1:11:45] only exist from point B and we'll stop
[1:11:49] the gist from Wendy that notion
[1:11:52] paralyzed man should remove you are free
[1:11:58] from time you are liberated from the
[1:12:02] notion of time your nature true nature
[1:12:08] is nature of no birth no death no being
[1:12:11] known on being and to be caught in the
[1:12:14] idea that I will die someday I could
[1:12:16] become nothing someday
[1:12:19] that should be removed if a cloud cannot
[1:12:23] die how can we continue always in
[1:12:30] different forms more or less beautiful
[1:12:33] according to our practice
[1:12:35] [Laughter]
[1:12:45] so speaking of the noble fo path we had
[1:12:52] to mention the eight elements of the
[1:12:54] path and the first element we have
[1:12:58] spoken of this morning is right view
[1:13:02] right view is the kind of view that is
[1:13:12] free from all from use wrong views born
[1:13:17] from notions like beings not be birth
[1:13:22] death coming going sameness when other
[1:13:29] Ness and so on and right view is a kind
[1:13:35] of insight that that that has to be
[1:13:39] liberated from all kind of
[1:13:41] discrimination dualism you are no longer
[1:13:46] caught between left and right above and
[1:13:51] below white and black inside and outside
[1:13:56] created in future and so on remove all
[1:14:00] pairs of opposite and this the ultimate
[1:14:04] truth and sometimes it's called Nirvana
[1:14:10] sometimes called Maharaja Bharata the
[1:14:15] great insight that has the power to
[1:14:19] trans to transport us to the others the
[1:14:23] show the show of freedom
[1:14:32] and if basing great view
[1:14:39] non-discrimination
[1:14:41] non-separation non-dualistic non-dualism
[1:14:45] and then we can practice right thinking
[1:14:58] right thinking is that kind of thinking
[1:15:01] that go along the line up right view no
[1:15:06] discrimination no separation you are in
[1:15:14] me and you there's no discussion
[1:15:18] whatsoever
[1:15:19] and all of us know a lot of suffering
[1:15:22] has been created on the basis of
[1:15:24] discrimination produce discrimination
[1:15:28] racial discrimination all kind of
[1:15:31] discrimination we had to practice enough
[1:15:36] to have a remove designation in the mind
[1:15:39] of people try thinking is thinking the
[1:15:50] kind of thinking that produce
[1:15:52] understanding and compassion and we can
[1:15:59] at any time produce a thought in the
[1:16:02] line of right thinking a thought that is
[1:16:06] free from discrimination a thought that
[1:16:09] is full of understanding and compassion
[1:16:11] and as a professional we can produce the
[1:16:15] thought like that
[1:16:17] several times and as soon as you are
[1:16:21] able to create to produce a thought of
[1:16:26] of reconciliation of compassion of
[1:16:30] understanding that thought begins to
[1:16:34] heal us and heal the world
[1:16:37] right thinking can heal the world can
[1:16:41] save the world and wrong thinking can
[1:16:45] can destroy it wrong thinking can lead
[1:16:49] to suicide can look little terrorism and
[1:16:55] so on so if we cultivate the right view
[1:16:58] and then our thinking will be rightly
[1:17:04] suppose we produce a thought of anger of
[1:17:07] fear of hate of despair that's not good
[1:17:12] for our health
[1:17:13] if we keep producing thoughts of hate
[1:17:17] fear and despair you'll destroy destroy
[1:17:22] our body our mind and destroyed world
[1:17:26] that is why as good practitioner we have
[1:17:30] to cultivate the practice of right
[1:17:37] thinking our thoughts should be
[1:17:40] characterized by non-discrimination
[1:17:44] mutual understanding and compassion we
[1:17:49] understand the suffering inside we
[1:17:51] understand the suffering of the other
[1:17:52] person of the world and from the
[1:17:56] compassion arise and thinking like that
[1:17:59] is very healing and we need a teacher
[1:18:09] indeed fellow practitioners in order to
[1:18:13] support us to guide us in a practice of
[1:18:19] right thinking right thinking can change
[1:18:23] the world can save the world
[1:18:26] and then with the foundation of
[1:18:31] Brightview
[1:18:32] we can proceed sorry speech
[1:18:38] anything we say has a power to inspire
[1:18:42] people to restore faith to rest our
[1:18:48] communication to reconcile to have
[1:18:53] people feel better to to show the way
[1:18:57] that is the right the kind of speech
[1:19:00] that we practice dry speech loving
[1:19:06] speech rose along with compassionate
[1:19:10] listening that is the object of the
[1:19:15] fourth mindfulness training many of us
[1:19:21] have received the 5:10 in this morning
[1:19:25] and the fourth is about the practice of
[1:19:27] Christ's speech and deep listening
[1:19:32] the practice of right speech and deep
[1:19:37] listening help us restore communication
[1:19:41] and reconcile a few days of practice can
[1:19:47] already help we are able to see the
[1:19:51] suffering in the other person when we
[1:19:56] have the intention to help him or her
[1:19:58] suffer less and then we are already
[1:20:01] ready to practice deep listening and
[1:20:06] loving speech in order to restore
[1:20:10] communication and reconcile the miracle
[1:20:13] of reconciliation always take place in
[1:20:16] our retreat
[1:20:21] where if when we write a letter when a
[1:20:26] science and an email when we use our
[1:20:29] mobile phone we can very well speak but
[1:20:33] this price bish it can create it can
[1:20:40] restore communication it can inspire
[1:20:43] people they can make a person happy
[1:20:45] right away darling I'm here for you
[1:20:50] darling I know you are there big be very
[1:20:54] happy darling I know that you are
[1:20:56] difficulties I'm here for you all this
[1:21:01] kind of practice can happen relief and
[1:21:09] healing so as a good practitioner we are
[1:21:14] able to to practice loving speech
[1:21:20] several times a day and does not cost
[1:21:23] anything it can it can restore
[1:21:28] communication it can make a person happy
[1:21:31] right away be generous because the other
[1:21:38] person has good sits in him or her and
[1:21:42] if you recognize the good sits in him or
[1:21:45] her they will become a happy person
[1:21:49] and you will profit from his or her
[1:21:52] happiness effect come very quickly and
[1:21:59] then with right view we can brought this
[1:22:03] right action action RIA is physical
[1:22:13] bodily action anything we do with our
[1:22:17] body that can support that can protect
[1:22:22] they can sell
[1:22:25] is right action because you are
[1:22:30] motivated by non-discrimination by
[1:22:34] understanding and compassion everything
[1:22:37] we do will be right action and a good
[1:22:41] professional can perform many right
[1:22:45] action during the day even saving and
[1:22:49] and prevailing from using the kind of
[1:22:55] product that is polluting it's all good
[1:22:59] action and these three protests one
[1:23:09] about mine one about speech
[1:23:17] mouth and learn about body three forms
[1:23:26] of actions to think is only to act when
[1:23:35] you produce a thought of compassion a
[1:23:38] thought of understanding reconciliation
[1:23:41] they begin to heal you and help you to
[1:23:44] work
[1:23:46] and if you keep producing cut like that
[1:23:50] you send your lies you sent were in a
[1:23:52] good direction but if by mistake you
[1:23:57] have produced a lot of hate and anger
[1:24:03] mindfulness will help you to recognize
[1:24:05] that support yesterday I produce a
[1:24:08] thought of disconnection anger and today
[1:24:12] during meditation sitting meditation I
[1:24:15] recognized at least not a good action so
[1:24:19] I sit down and I concentrate produce
[1:24:23] another thought a thought in the
[1:24:27] opposite direction I said sorry I did
[1:24:33] not mean to produce that thought
[1:24:34] yesterday but because I am NOT very
[1:24:36] mindful so today I produced this thought
[1:24:40] full of non-discrimination compassion
[1:24:43] and as soon as you produce the new
[1:24:45] thought it will erase delete the other
[1:24:50] thought
[1:24:51] that the transformation you can change
[1:24:58] the past you can change even the past
[1:25:03] you can prepare for the future
[1:25:07] yesterday we we told a story of a war
[1:25:13] veteran who kill children in Vietnam and
[1:25:20] he suffered but later on he was told
[1:25:25] that he can use his life in order to
[1:25:27] save many children in the future
[1:25:31] so he was able by this kind of practice
[1:25:35] remove the complex of guilt and come
[1:25:39] back no joy of living because actually
[1:25:44] you can help save many children from
[1:25:47] dying
[1:25:53] so thinking is already action speaking
[1:25:58] is already action speaking well can
[1:26:03] promote peace reconciliation and three
[1:26:09] kinds of actions mine my speech and body
[1:26:19] is what we produce every day suppose we
[1:26:26] look at the orange tree in the backyard
[1:26:28] the orange tree produce what beautiful
[1:26:33] orange leaves she produced beautiful
[1:26:37] orange blossom she produced with four
[1:26:39] oranges here we do the same as a good
[1:26:43] petitioner we can produce beautiful
[1:26:45] thought beautiful speech and beautiful
[1:26:49] action and that is our continuation
[1:26:54] action our action we are our action like
[1:27:03] blowing is the action of the wind and
[1:27:08] falling is the action of the rain and it
[1:27:17] is very clear that we are our action
[1:27:25] there is a French philosopher
[1:27:37] his name is jean-paul Satre and he said
[1:27:43] something like man is the sum of his
[1:27:46] action definition of men men is what
[1:27:52] what is meant men is the totality of his
[1:27:55] action an action has three aspects what
[1:27:59] you think what you say in what you do
[1:28:03] and sense it word for action is karma
[1:28:15] when you produce an action that is your
[1:28:20] continuation and when this body
[1:28:27] disintegrates you continues on well yeah
[1:28:30] with your action nothing is lost we have
[1:28:36] learned about the law of conservation of
[1:28:39] matter we know that matter you cannot
[1:28:42] create new matter you cannot destroy
[1:28:44] matter and also the love conversation a
[1:28:49] conservation of energy you cannot create
[1:28:54] new energy you cannot destroy energy you
[1:29:01] can transfer energy so nothing is lost
[1:29:06] and in the French scientist Lavoie sees
[1:29:09] that nothing is born nothing dies
[1:29:13] Rihanna Sucre in a spell very close to
[1:29:17] the Heart Sutra they did not he was not
[1:29:24] a Buddhist but he did practice looking
[1:29:29] deeply into relative and he found the
[1:29:35] same thing nothing is created
[1:29:40] nothing is less Florida
[1:29:45] a very close to total to the removal the
[1:29:51] notion of birth and death
[1:29:53] being and not-being it's possible that
[1:29:56] scientists and Buddhist practitioners
[1:30:00] working together they were support each
[1:30:03] other's so everything we produce in
[1:30:09] terms of part speech and action will
[1:30:11] continue on us don't imagine that that
[1:30:19] they will disappear know every thought
[1:30:22] that you produce has your signature
[1:30:25] you cannot say it's not matter every can
[1:30:35] you say carries your signature you are
[1:30:39] the author and that is your continuation
[1:30:46] so when you see this body of mine
[1:30:49] disintegrate don't think that they is no
[1:30:51] longer there they still there in his new
[1:30:54] forms and look at his actions his action
[1:30:58] continues him so all of us should see
[1:31:02] that that we do not end at all with the
[1:31:06] disintegration of this body we continues
[1:31:09] always more or less beautifully depends
[1:31:13] on how we practice so to produce is
[1:31:24] karma hey to gamma hated the cause can
[1:31:30] backhoes cut my calls
[1:31:40] and to ripe the fruit is called a karma
[1:31:46] fruit and sometimes we don't need to
[1:31:56] wait very long the course bring the
[1:31:58] effect right away as soon as you say
[1:32:01] something nice kind forgiving you feel
[1:32:06] wonderful
[1:32:07] and the other person feel wonderful also
[1:32:10] so that cause and effect can go together
[1:32:14] very quickly to believe that a cloud can
[1:32:27] die a cloud can pass from being into
[1:32:30] non-being it's not the truth it's not
[1:32:34] scientific either so to believe that we
[1:32:37] will die and become no one is also wrong
[1:32:41] thinking wrong view we continues always
[1:32:46] and it is with the practice it is
[1:32:50] possible to continue beautifully and if
[1:32:55] you can my friends if you can keep your
[1:32:57] body Tita a beginner's mind alive surely
[1:33:03] you will make your future much more
[1:33:06] beautiful for you and for others and
[1:33:11] then we have a right livelihood
[1:33:20] select a kind of livelihood that goes
[1:33:30] along with the inside of
[1:33:34] non-discrimination understanding and
[1:33:39] compassion and then II have the element
[1:33:44] of right religions we already learned
[1:33:51] about this the practice of selective
[1:33:58] watering off of seeds and got killed
[1:34:04] you have offer you have water the good
[1:34:07] the seed of love in me in your attitude
[1:34:10] I will water the seed of love
[1:34:14] understanding and happiness from someone
[1:34:16] to support each other in our
[1:34:20] relationship and we refrain from
[1:34:26] watering the negatives it's very member
[1:34:30] to water our flowers every day and only
[1:34:39] two more left at the right mindfulness
[1:34:48] and right concentration
[1:34:59] and we know that mindfulness is the
[1:35:02] energy that have asked to home to the
[1:35:05] here and now and live deeply our life
[1:35:09] cultivating her past concentrate and to
[1:35:15] make a breakthrough and to get the right
[1:35:17] deal that is the foundation of right
[1:35:20] thinking right speech and right action
[1:35:22] and this is the path proposed by the
[1:35:26] Buddha not only for monks and nuns but
[1:35:30] for every one of us and the five
[1:35:36] mindfulness trainings they reflect the
[1:35:40] Tischendorf or Noble Truths and also the
[1:35:44] teaching of the noble a full path the
[1:35:51] other day we spoke about the three
[1:35:54] thoughts of liberation and the first
[1:35:58] door is Sundiata it means emptiness and
[1:36:08] we have learned that emptiness doesn't
[1:36:11] mean none not being to be empty it means
[1:36:18] to be empty of a separate existence the
[1:36:26] flower is there but she is empty of a
[1:36:30] separate existence she's made out only
[1:36:34] of non-flower elements and we had to see
[1:36:40] the nature of emptiness in us in a
[1:36:44] flower in a cloud in our love in us in
[1:36:48] order not to be victims of despair
[1:36:54] and discrimination ii concentration is
[1:37:00] the concentration and signlessness it
[1:37:11] means that we should not count on the
[1:37:14] appearance when our beloved clown is no
[1:37:19] longer no longer in the sky we should
[1:37:22] not think that our club has died you
[1:37:25] should know that it is impossible for
[1:37:27] our crowd to death and we should look
[1:37:29] for our cloud in her new manifestation
[1:37:33] so when we drink our tea we can say
[1:37:38] hello to our club nothing is lost and
[1:37:43] therefore what we do not see with our
[1:37:49] eyes does not mean that they do they are
[1:37:53] not there the there are a lot of cloud
[1:37:59] in this and it's a llama hole you don't
[1:38:03] see it but all of us know that what a
[1:38:07] vapor is there when we breathe out is a
[1:38:11] lot of water you don't see it but the
[1:38:16] water vapor is the cloud non visible it
[1:38:22] needs to touch something core in order
[1:38:23] to be apparent to be seen
[1:38:36] suppose there is a mountain and a row in
[1:38:45] this direction in the air you don't see
[1:38:50] climb it but there is a there is a water
[1:38:55] vapor in it and when the air encounter
[1:39:00] the mountain it cannot continue it has
[1:39:02] to go up anybody go high like this meet
[1:39:06] with the coal and suddenly it becomes
[1:39:10] visible
[1:39:11] the water vapor become visible as a
[1:39:14] cloud so when you don't see it don't say
[1:39:18] that it is not there it is there it's
[1:39:23] like in this hole many television signal
[1:39:28] radio signal are crossing but we don't
[1:39:31] see it you cannot say that they do not
[1:39:34] exist so we should not realize so much
[1:39:39] appearance outside and that is the
[1:39:43] practice of signlessness and when a
[1:39:50] person who is close to us he is no
[1:39:53] longer in her usual form we should not
[1:39:56] be despair she continues always and you
[1:40:00] have to find her in her new
[1:40:02] manifestation maybe more beautiful than
[1:40:05] before and maybe she is in you therefore
[1:40:11] that allow us not to become a victim of
[1:40:15] despair anger and so on so that is the
[1:40:20] practice of concentration called
[1:40:22] signlessness
[1:40:27] and the third is the concentration
[1:40:33] called aimlessness the other day we
[1:40:40] spoke about a wave in search of water as
[1:40:45] a grave she's scared she suffered from
[1:40:50] the notion of beginning ending going up
[1:40:54] going down more or less beautiful than
[1:40:56] the other waves but once she realized
[1:41:00] that she is water she'd lose all her
[1:41:03] afflictions she has a good time growing
[1:41:06] up a good time going down she's free
[1:41:08] from the notion of birth and death
[1:41:10] beginning and ending and she doesn't
[1:41:14] have to go and look for water elsewhere
[1:41:16] she is water right in the here and the
[1:41:19] now our nature of no coming novo in no
[1:41:25] birth no death no being and non-being we
[1:41:30] don't have to look for anyway yes where
[1:41:34] we are in it that's called Nirvana
[1:41:39] nirvana is not someplace outside Nirvana
[1:41:49] means the realm of no birth no death no
[1:41:53] being no non-being no coming no boy and
[1:41:58] that is the true nature of all that
[1:42:04] means and if the wave does not have to
[1:42:09] go and search for water we don't have to
[1:42:12] go and look for new mana we are in it it
[1:42:16] had been open eyes for a long time
[1:42:21] and if I practice neat-looking
[1:42:24] meditation with touch we touch our true
[1:42:29] nature of no birth and no death no
[1:42:31] coming and going and we are free from
[1:42:34] all kind of fear including the fear of
[1:42:37] non-being
[1:42:40] in Buddhism we learned to kind of proof
[1:42:47] the conventional truth where people
[1:42:51] still talk about birth and death good
[1:42:56] and evil suffering and happiness but
[1:43:00] when you touch the ultimate all these
[1:43:03] opposite notions disappear and you are
[1:43:06] free so with the practice of the
[1:43:10] conventional growth we can get some
[1:43:17] relief but the greatest relief you can
[1:43:23] get only when you touch Nirvana you
[1:43:25] touch the ultimate your true nature of
[1:43:29] no coming no going Noble no death no
[1:43:32] being and non-being
[1:43:35] there was a layperson in the time of the
[1:43:39] Buddha
[1:43:40] his name is another pinnacle he has
[1:43:49] served the Sangha and the Buddha more
[1:43:52] than thirty years and got a lot of
[1:43:56] happiness during that time and I would
[1:43:59] hear that he was dying so he came to
[1:44:03] whisk him and after that he reappointed
[1:44:08] shariputra he one of his senior
[1:44:11] disciples to look after an italic to
[1:44:15] help him to dine peacefully with no fear
[1:44:20] it is a not terribly pinnacle who
[1:44:24] invited the Buddha to the
[1:44:26] country of shrawasti and offer him a
[1:44:28] practice center a part hole under that
[1:44:33] in Villa Park and when Sharapova came
[1:44:38] with his younger brother in the Dhamma
[1:44:41] and under anathapindika could not stand
[1:44:45] sit up because he was so weak he was in
[1:44:49] the Hana
[1:44:56] shariputra said dear friend don't make
[1:45:00] any effort to bring Russia as close to
[1:45:02] you and we'll talk with you
[1:45:03] I went amongst sedan shariputra ask dear
[1:45:09] friend how do you feel in your body is
[1:45:13] the pain in your subside is increasing
[1:45:17] and not abietic acid dear venerable does
[1:45:20] not seem that the the pain in my body
[1:45:25] has decreased it is increasing all the
[1:45:27] time and for the Buddha said in that
[1:45:33] case let us meditate together I will
[1:45:36] offer a guided meditation let us
[1:45:38] practice the for collections dresses
[1:45:43] focus of intention attention on the
[1:45:46] Buddha Dhamma and the Sangha
[1:45:49] shariputra was a very intelligent monk
[1:45:51] he said that if he can draw the
[1:45:55] attention of anathapindika on the three
[1:45:58] jewels he will suffer less because he
[1:46:03] loved the three jewels so much they had
[1:46:06] a great deal of pleasure serving the
[1:46:07] Buddha the Dharma and Sangha in fact
[1:46:11] three minutes of recollection help
[1:46:14] another pinnacle to smile they got a
[1:46:18] balance within joy and if you are to a
[1:46:26] common I'd a dying person remembered in
[1:46:30] her in him there is a sitz of happiness
[1:46:34] if you care to talk about that
[1:46:38] you have diminished the pain and have
[1:46:41] the set of happiness to manifest and
[1:46:43] that person will suffer less
[1:46:46] and when the monks are under topic
[1:46:50] smiley said now let us continue with our
[1:46:54] guided meditation Brittany and I see the
[1:47:03] element in me I am made of normally
[1:47:06] element but it allowed I see the eleven
[1:47:09] water in me Brittany and I see the money
[1:47:13] element hittin me it is now I see the
[1:47:17] element in me and out of me I am made of
[1:47:21] normal element breathing in I'm aware of
[1:47:27] this body this body is not me and more
[1:47:32] than this body I am my action I have
[1:47:37] done so many good things for the Buddha
[1:47:39] Dharma and Sangha
[1:47:40] that is my continuation Britannian and
[1:47:46] now this body has come from nowhere it
[1:47:50] has not come from the north north south
[1:47:53] when conditions sufficient my body
[1:47:57] manifest breathing out I know my body
[1:48:02] will grow in will not go anywhere when
[1:48:07] conditions are no longer sufficient my
[1:48:10] body visit great and I continue with my
[1:48:12] action and free from this body it's very
[1:48:19] important to have the person know to
[1:48:21] identify himself with the body she is
[1:48:25] more than her money and you who sit
[1:48:28] close to her you should use your wisdom
[1:48:31] in order to help her not to be attached
[1:48:34] to this body this body is not her and
[1:48:39] suddenly I thought the pinnacle began to
[1:48:44] cry
[1:48:47] the venerable Ananda who is younger than
[1:48:50] joy which I was very surprised
[1:48:52] he said different why don't you cry did
[1:48:57] you still regret something and a lot
[1:49:01] abietic acid no venerable and I don't
[1:49:04] regret anything
[1:49:05] oh you you might not succeed in your
[1:49:10] meditation no I do I succeed very well
[1:49:14] in my meditation but why are you crying
[1:49:19] I'm not tapping it I said dear venerable
[1:49:22] I cry because I am so moved I have
[1:49:26] served the Buddha and the Sangha more
[1:49:30] than thirty years but I have never hear
[1:49:34] such a wonderful picture and put into
[1:49:37] the practice I'm free now I'm so happy
[1:49:41] I'm released another I said dear friend
[1:49:47] you don't know we monks and nuns we
[1:49:51] received this teaching almost every day
[1:49:55] and not America's try to say the
[1:50:00] venerable Ananda there are those of us
[1:50:03] who lay practitioners who are so busy in
[1:50:07] our daily life we are caught up with so
[1:50:09] many things but there are still many of
[1:50:12] us who have enough time to receive and
[1:50:18] practice this wonderful teaching so
[1:50:22] please go home and tell the Buddha
[1:50:25] outage that many lay practitioners are
[1:50:31] capable of receiving this practice so
[1:50:35] please come the law to dispense also
[1:50:38] description to learn people and that is
[1:50:42] the last word spoken by another Anika
[1:50:46] another said well I will do that I will
[1:50:50] tell a lot about your elastic
[1:50:54] and after that another paddock a smile
[1:50:57] and pass away very peacefully and this
[1:51:01] is a text recorded in in the Tripitaka
[1:51:05] in the Holy Scripture available both in
[1:51:09] cents in Pali and in Chinese and iris
[1:51:13] have have translated that that discourse
